Meet doc
Dr. Brian M. Hickey is a Professor of Exercise Science and Sport Management at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. He is a product of Syracuse University and Notre Dame – Bishop Gibbons High School. In 2008 he was inducted into the Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons Hall of Fame.
As an exercise scientist, his research interest focus on energy system development and athlete monitoring. His athletes range in age from high school to octogenarians and experience from novice to Olympians and the professional level.
Practicing what he preaches, Brian is an active competitor in track and field, duathlon, and obstacle course racing. His athletic resume includes an American Record in masters track, numerous Masters All-American honors, and competing in the 2004 US Olympic Trials for cycling. To date, he has earned multiple national titles and represented Team USA 11 times across both duathlon (6x) and masters track and field (5x)
When he is not teaching, coaching, training or competing he can be found honing his latest riff on the guitar or perfecting his lacrosse skills.
The aforementioned notwithstanding, Brian is most proud of being the son of Fred and Terry and Rachel’s husband.
