Dr. Brian M. Hickey is a Professor of Exercise Science and Sport Management at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. He is a product of Syracuse University and Notre Dame – Bishop Gibbons High School. In 2008 he was inducted into the Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons Hall of Fame.

As an exercise scientist, his research interest focus on energy system development and athlete monitoring. His athletes range in age from high school to octogenarians and experience from novice to Olympians and the professional level.

Brian puts theory into practice by competing regularly in duathlon, track and field, running, obstacle course racing and lacrosse. Over the course of his athletic career he has earned 32 national titles (31 in masters track and field, 1 in duathlon), set an American Record in masters track and competed in the 2004 US Olympic Trials for cycling. He has represented the United States as a national team member twice in masters track and field and five times in duathlon.

When he is not teaching, coaching, training or competing he can be found at a Candlebox concert or watching an East Coast Hockey League game (Savannah Ghost Pirates or Jacksonville Icemen).

The aforementioned notwithstanding, Brian is most proud of being the son of Fred and Terry and Rachel’s husband.
